Walking up to the steaming cauldron, Daphne watched the steam coming off the potion in spirals. For a long moment she admired the beautiful sheen of the potion, reminding her of the mother-of-pearl necklaces of her mother's that she had played with in her youth. She hadn't been allowed to touch them, but she tried them on anyway, draping them around Astoria's neck once she was done.
The blonde looked over her shoulder at the row of students, mainly girls, all in a single file behind her, waiting for their chance to step up and find out what their Amortentia smelled like. With a faint smile gracing her lips, Daphne noticed that the boys were at the very back of the line, not bothered with such a "girly" potion, not that such a thing surprised her. She'd expected exactly that from the boys.
Turning back, she leaned over, and let the potion's steam caress her face. The smell of violin varnish hit her first, causing the girl to grin. She had almost expected that. Out of everything in her life, the thing that she cared for most was her music, and it was no surprise that her Amortentia would reflect that. But the potion wasn't done with her yet. The next rising spirals brought with it the smell of the grounds after a heavy rain, a sort of clean concrete and grass smell. She closed her eyes as the aroma took her back to all the times she'd snuck out after lights out to wander the grounds after it rained, finding solace by herself. Finally, like a good perfume, the final notes of the potion began to tease her nose. The delicate aroma of carnations and then lilac wafted up, and Daphne stood for a long moment, enjoying the floral scent.
Finally, she tore herself away from the mesmerizing potion. Others were wanting a go, and she had found out all that she'd wanted. Smiling to herself, she left the line and went back to her table, opening her notebook and beginning to write yet another musical tune. Fascinating potion, Amortentia...
